2011 Corvette Z06 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Corvette’s first participation at Le Mans. This one-of-a-kind Corvette (VIN 0001) features the same blue and white color scheme as the 1960 Corvette which won its class at Le Mans 50 years ago and will be sold later this year to benefit the National Corvette Museum.
The 2011 Corvette Z06 special edition will be offered with both a Z07 performance package and a CFZ black carbon fiber package. A unique feature will be the side view mirrors painted in Cyber Gray instead of the Black that comes on the Carbon edition.
At the Saturday’s American Le Mans Series Monterey, the brand’s fans will be able to give the Compuware Corvette C6.R race cars a favourable send-off before their transatlantic journey to Europe, France for the world’s most prestigious sports car race on June 12-13.
Doug Fehan, Program Manager Corvette Racing shares: “For many years we have talked about the legacy of Corvette Racing and the role that the team plays in Corvette’s history. The reason this is important today is because of the strong foundation that people like Dick Thompson, Dick Guldstrand, Zora Arkus-Duntov, and many others built for Corvette. They set the bar high, and they accomplished so much with so little. Today we have the full resources of Chevrolet and GM behind Corvette Racing, but these pioneers are the ones who truly began Corvette’s performance heritage. Corvette Racing is continuing to build on that foundation for those who will come after us.”
